We're So Blessed

I woke up with a smile on my face this morning. Really. That's not usual. I'm not known for being "Little Miss Mary Sunshine" in the AM. However it seems that as each day goes by I'm more aware of how truly blessed I am. And once in awhile something special occurs that makes me give extra thanks to the Almighty. So this morning I woke up smiling.

I'd spent the evening before with my grandson Ben and his fiance Teresa. They're getting married in July but won't have time for a honeymoon because of work and school. I still have a timeshare on Treasure Island in Florida so I gave it to the kids for a much-needed getaway before summer school starts. They came back yesterday with pictures and videos to share.

They were so bubbly and happy that it was just impossible not to share their joy. Even though Lord knows I didn't feel like it. My shoulder hurt. My knees hurt. Dust on the table and smudges on the window were bugging me. I didn't feel appreciated or appreciative. However, true joy is contagious and I couldn't help myself. Soon I was grinning like an idiot right along with the rest of the family.

So here's Lucy's message for the week: Don't fight it. If there's any reason to smile or laugh, don't miss it. If there isn't a reason, make one up. Pretend. I'll bet you can find one little thing worth a grin. I wish I'd done that a long time ago. I think I would have been much more fun to be around---and probably would have had more friends. Mike, a truly excepional fellow who blogs at http://exscientia.wordpress.com/ has captured our choices so well. Don't miss his latest blogs.

And oh, by the way, the photo at the top isn't Ben and Teresa. It's his older brother Aaron and his fiancee with a glamorous mystery woman. I don't have the FL pix yet and besides, who cares? It's all good.

Who IS that totally glam, drop-dead gorgeous mystery woman? (Ooops, I should not have said drop dead. Sorry, Lucyd, and you better NOT, because I enjoy you so much!!)
Joy is contagious for sure. I'm so happy for the young couples who are living in love's glow.
Mike's blog has always been thought provoking and a wonderful read. His posts lately have really been profound.
I generally wake up happy, but when I turn over and see my elliptical trainer staring me in the face, some of my joy dissipates.

That mystery woman is stunning. AND I can't picture you anything but bubbly and cheerful. That's sure how you make me feel everytime I come here to visit. All the best to the upcoming wedding couples....and what a nice grandmother you are to send Ben and Teresa for a get-away now.

Perfect post LucyD. You are so right..

This reminds me of something a good friend said a therapist shared with her once. Tell your kid "yes" more often. Stop and think through just how often you say no and if what they want to do is not going to harm them or others or cost a fortune - why are you saying no.. is it just habit?

Good for you -- on spreading the positive thinking/messages.

And by the way -- you look fabulous!

I sure do agree Lucy. Sometimes it is very hard to find that laugh or smile, but...ultimately it feels so good to laugh! And it's good for you, too, I'm happy to say...Going to visit that blogger you reccomended, right now!

Miss Lucy, the next time you come down to that Treasure Island time share in Florida give me an e-mail and me and sweetthing will take you to lunch At Capt John Hubbard's place on the docks. Beast seafood in Florida..we used to eat there a couple of times a month but now we live a 100 miles or so north and it is too far to go except for special occasions.

My 18 year old is out and about today, celebrating her b-day with a friend. Even though you kindly suggested that my hubby and I should "pump" out a few more heirs, I must say that I am thrilled to NOT succumb to such a suggestion.

Happy day to you, dear Lucyd.

Well said, Ms. Lucy. Positive, joyful people make life better. Glad you found a few rays of sunshine and hope the aches and pains go away soon. I think surrounding ourselves with young people is always a good thing.

Just reading your posts makes me happy! I also loved the cat massaging the dog that you sent me. Had trouble opening it on my macintosh though. But it WAS worth the trouble ;) Thanks a lot

I've been trying and trying to get our neighborhood cat to give me a massage like the kitten in that email you sent. All I've managed to get thus far is scratched.
My back could use a good pawing.
