Am I Small Enough Now?

I've been fretting about losing weight for Ben and Teresa's wedding. I know I won't be a size 6 again but I would like there to be a bit less of me by the the time I make my appearance as
Grandmother of the Groom. The problem is that I haven't been very disciplined about getting smaller. Somehow that makes me feel like, if not a failure, a bad girl. Hmmmm...

So. Why is smaller better? How small would be really, really good? It seems the bigger my ego gets the smaller I want to be---or is it the smaller I become the bigger my ego gets? Crazy! I'm 84 years old for heaven's sake.

I'm thinking about all this because of a link my granddaughter sent . Take a look at it and see what you think. It pretty much puts things in perspective.

Wow Lucy - that was neat - thanks. I think you look grand just the way you are - beautiful, but I guess most of us would love to lose 10 pounds. You are right the link really gives some perspective doesn't it. Thanks I needed some perspective today. :)

Yikes, now I don't feel so bad about eating those extra cookies...and ice cream bar....and piece of cake...and granola bar...and...Yeah, I still feel bad.

A fascinating link. As to are you small enough? If you feel good--your health is good--your lovely smile is still there. Then you are small enough!

Ahhhh yes! I'm with you...it is a really tough one. I wanted to lose a good 15 pounds or so by my Birthday...well, like you Lucy, I have not been a good camper when it comes to eating....Actually seeing that link helps me not be so damn hard on myself about this...because, in the greater scheme of things..who really gives a s**t??? I mean....right now the flavors of food, particularly some things that put the weight on you, just feels so satisfying...! Chocolate, anyone? I say, the hell with it...I'll thinkit about it tomorrow....at Tara...! (lol) You do the dame Lucy...just enjoy everything and anything you want, my dear... I'll be right there with you...waddling down the street!

What gets me is that you think you've grown, matured, risen to a higher level and then - surprise! - you're back at square one. Happens in all areas of relationships...even with ourselves.
So do like the guys do. Look in the mirror and think, "Gee, I look great!"

From HUGE to really, really, really, small. That was so cool, right down to the quarks!

You will look stunning at the wedding. Your red hair will attract the attention of all, and your smile will be the clencher that melts all hearts.
My advice is to skip the diet and wear a girdle.

Great idea JD...a hinder-binder to go with my over-the shoulder-boulder-holder;)

Lucy From what I have seen in your photos, you DON'T need to lose an ounce.

Now go eat that apple dumpling and worry about something important like "Global Warming" ;)

I don't think you need to lose either. Remember, if older people lose too much weight, the wrinkles take over!

I did enjoy that link, though. Right up my alley.

Add me to the list of you don't need to lose an ounce. You look great.
Loved the site, but when it comes to "numbers" whether they're on a scale or wherever, I'm hopeless.
Well....that is, UNLESS those numbers are in my checkbook. Have no problem with that.

    Is an over-the-shoulder-boulder-holder the same as a flopper-stopper?? ;-)
You look great ... whaddya mean lose weight? Who wants to wear a hinder-binder in heat and humidity, or any other time for that matter? I thought we gave up those pressure cookers a long time ago. Next thing I know, they'll bring back garter belts, hose with seams, who knows where it will end. From one red head to another, you got it made in the shade just like you are!

    Thanks Blogbuds!
I'm feeling mighty good about myself tonight. Think I treat myself to some chocolate and an apple dumpling before I hit the hay. While I do that I'll start to worry about saving the whales.
    G'Nite All!

I hope you've managed to find just the right fat compressing girdle. You don't want to be jiggling all over the place.
I am just now recalling a scene from Gone With the Wind where Scarlett is having her corsett pulled tighter and tighter. I don't want you to go that far with this girdle thing. I would like for you to be able to breathe while attending the wedding. :)
Personally, I'd just like some kind of butt and hips reducer. That's really all I need. Oh, and I wouldn't reject a boob inflater if someone offered it.

Lately Lucy, I have for some unexplained reason been worrying about falling and breaking a hip. Don't ask why. . . I think it might be replacing the old "You will shoot your eye out" fear. Anyway, I have decided that a size 8 or 10 woman of mature age probably has a better chance of not breaking a hip, if God forbids she trips on the processional carptet. So have a Milky Way or Snickers on me and oh yes, pick up your feet when you walk. =)

    Great link, Lucy!
I can't be bothered dieting any more. You look great the way you are, why should YOU bother?
    Love

Why is it that 98% of the women in North America have this desire to lose weight and be smaller. I wish I knew the answer.. because I am definitely one of them. Silly isn't it.. especially when in the grand scheme of things we are already so very small. :-)

I never give it a thought until I am faced with meeting people I knew "back when". For some reason, I feel I have to look exactly how they remembered me - trim, blonde and feisty.

Okay - two out of three ain't bad!

I believe I was size 6 - when I was six years old...

Hey, Lucy...I was just reading Millie Garfield's blog. She is always touted as "one of the oldest bloggers on the net," and I discover thru The Ageless Project that you (and my friend "Denver Doug") are both older than she is. Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks!

I know exactly what you mean...why can't we embrace all of the facets of "grandmotherhood", including a grandmotherly body which usually means a well padded lap. Even if I ever got to a 6 again, all my jigglies have been rearranged. There is something to be said for accepting all of this gracefully. You have such a bright spirit and grace about you, you'll add a ray of sunshine to the big event!
